Abstract
Oral administration of clofibrate (Atromid-S^(¢ç)) produce an excellent, sustained hypocholesterolemic and hypotriglyceridemic effect in man. 17 patients with hyperlipemia treated with clofibrate showed an average 33.8% decrease in serum triglyceride, a 25.6% decrease in serum cholesterol and 8.2% decrease in serum phospholipid. There were no evidence of toxic or uncomfortable symptoms except two cases of loose stool and one case of mild indigestion. However those complaints disappeared with-out of the drug.
Since clofibrate (Atromid-S^(¢ç)) has been shown to produce an effective hypolipemic response without side effects, it is indicated for the treatment and prophylaxis of atherosclerosis and hyperlipemia.
